Open Space
March 18, 1965 “Voskhod-2” spaceship was
launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. Crew
consisting of the captain P.I.Belyaev and co-pilot
A.A.Leonov, opened the new chapter in space
exploration. At 11:32 Belyaev opened the hatch of
the ship. Alexei Leonov was in the space vacuum for
12 minutes and then returned to the airlock chamber.
During ship landing due to failure of on-board
navigation systems of Pavel Belyayev had to become
the first in the world to have manually-orientated
ship towards the sun and switched on the br ake
engine. On Belyayev’s wrist there had been specially
manufactured watch in memory of which “open
space” series was created.
In 1959, the production of a new model of watches began, which
later became the legendary chronograph with additional telemetry
and tachymeter scales. Particularly with this watch in 1965, the
first earthman, cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, came out into Open
Space.
Today, the updated collection appears in two versions in a
completely new design with dynamic lines and car efully designed
ergonomics of the case.
Polished chamfers in combination with matte textures underscore
the dynamic image of the case. Teardrop-shaped chronograph
buttons have the same shape as eyelets.
HOWEVER, THE SPIRIT OF THE COLLECTION IS PRESERVED .
Concave spherical glass with two radiuses emphasize the
continuity of the design, it is complemented by the curved dial in
ivory or deep blue colour in combination with silver, and arched
hands with luminescent composition.
The collections are produced in limited edition using the Russian
movement cal.310579 with the moon phase and see - through
back cover.
